Obviously nurses have played an important role in our lives. We learned very quickly while we were in the hospital with Gavin, that the doctors might be the ones that order the medications and make the "battle plan", but it was the nurses that provided the care, comfort, and answers that we were so desperately seeking. Some of those nurses from Gavin's early days have become dear friends. Tony and I could have never gotten through Gavin's first weeks of life without Shelley.
She was literally an angel; the first person that made it a little easier for me to leave the NICU at night. Even after we switched hospitals from Children's in Minneapolis, to the University of MN Children's Hospital, Fairview, she came over to visit us on her day off.
We've had some some amazing nurses....from Shelley at Children's, to Karen, Katie, Colleen, Linda, LeeAnn, and Trish at the U of MN, to Kathy and Rita who cared for Gavin in our home. Gavin wouldn't be doing as well as he is without these wonderful people.
So on Sunday, Gavin and I made MONSTER cookies. We made a special trip to Tyler on Monday with Monster cookies in tow, to thank all the wonderful nurses at Tyler home care for all that they did for our family.
