Our BIG helper!

Since we've brought Olivia home, Tony and I have been careful to emphasize all the things Gavin can do because he's a BIG BOY that Olivia can't do because she's a baby. The result is a little boy that LOVES to help with everyday chores. Here is Gavin helping mommy do the dishes AND warm up Livie's bottle:

Let's just hope that our "helper" still enjoys doing these things 10 years from now!

Gavin has also been amazing about wanting to help with the baby. As soon as she wakes up, the first thing out of Gavin's mouth is, "Mommy...change the baby's diaper?" Before I even have a chance to pick her up, he's over by her changing area and has a diaper out exclaiming, "Here you go MOM!"

Here's Gavin waiting patiently for Olivia to be done with her bath so he can help get her dressed:

And Miss Olivia enjoying her first "real" bath: her umbilical cord fell out Wednesday, so she can finally be submerged in the water!

Enjoying life at home...

We are so so blessed...what did Tony and I ever do to deserve these 2 beautiful children? What a blessing.

Although part of me is so sad at what we missed out on with Gavin...call it "Mother's guilt," but as I sit up in the wee hours of the night rocking Olivia, there is still that pang of guilt that I never got to do that with Gavin--I'm so ANGRY that we missed out on this time with him--and we'll never get that back. I know that Tony and I did the best that we could with the hand that Gavin was dealt, but it just doesn't seem fair that a baby as small as Olivia could be stuck in a hospital for so long...

But instead of dwelling on the past, we're just trying to enjoy the present and these wonderful babies that we are lucky enough to call our children.

Getting into a routine!

I haven't forgotten our family website...I guess you could say that I've had my hands full adjusting to a newborn AND a toddler!

Gavin is such a PROUD big brother! He is so helpful with changing diapers, throwing things away, getting clothes for Olivia, and helping me give her baths. He loves her so much and it's so fun to see! There's only been one time that he's asked me to "put the baby back". So far so good!

I have a post-partum check up tomorrow to make sure I'm healing well from the c-section, and Olivia has her very first doctor's appointment. I'm anxious to see if she's gained any weight. She was 8 pounds 5 ounces at birth, and when she was discharged from the NICU on Saturday she was 7 pounds 12 ounces.
